A Message For The "Mentally Challenged"

Since my show of support for the folks over at The Muscat Queer Theory there's been a couple of comments and a few emails from the following:

1. People Who Are Uneducated

2. People Who Are Bigoted

3. People Who Are Both

Since so many of you are itching to know my views on this, here they are.

We are all born gay and straight - all at once.

"What?", "No!", "How dare you!" "May God strike you down!" - well, guess what.....he hasn't!

The truth is that we are.
There's potential for people to walk down one path, or another - or even retrace their steps on a regular basis and try both.
That, my dear readers is the reality of this world.

Some of you may think that the above is sick.
Some of the zealots among you, think it is even worth oppressing, jailing and in some cases killing someone over.

I am heterosexual. I love girls (and have a particular penchant for Asians) - I always have and always will.
The thoughts of sleeping with a member of the same sex does not appeal to me.
It never has.
However, for some people, it does.
And for others who are bisexual, they feel that they get the best of both worlds - and in their model of the world, they do.

But I do not label them sick, or weird, or worthy of punishment - and those of you who either email or comment to me with your misguided drivel about what you would like to do to these "vermin" "Infidels" or "sinners" need to take a serious look at yourselves.

A good quote I have read about the issue is from a very unlikely source - Billy Joe Armstrong from the rock-group Green Day.

He says:

"I think I've always been bisexual. I mean, it's something that I've always been interested in. I think people are born bisexual, and it's just that our parents and society kind of veer us off into this feeling of 'Oh, I can't.' They say it's taboo. It's ingrained in our heads that it's bad, when it's not bad at all. It's a very beautiful thing."

I'll eagerly await the landslide of abuse from the morons - but would also appreciate comments from the smart people too!

I disagree with your blog JD.

My personal opinion is that people are born as they are: be it straight, gay, or somewhere in-between, kinks, vanilla, S&M, Asian fetish, height fetish. That's just who they are. Every shade of the rainbow.

The danger with trying to describe sexuality as a path is that there will be those that try to correct that path and direction. I personally dont believe that you can.

That's also why there are certain fetishes (necrophilia, paedophilia) that cannot be "cured" any more than heterosexuality or homosexuality could be cured.

Some of the nicest people are gay, can be a lot more genuine than straight I was not disagreeing with you, just thought you may be with the interest you have in it, so relax, less of the mentally challanged heading.

Your comment was not the reason for the blog.
On the contrary, yours was one of the more soft replies.

The most hilarious one came from a self-confessed gay-hater, who said he was going to take his you-know-what and shove it up my rear end!

This is from a man so full of hatred for gays that he would actually cross the line and literally BECOME that hatred in order to make a point.

Latency does come to mind here!

Oh man, people do make me laugh sometimes!

If ever I've read a piece of illogical irrational trash, it's what you wrote. Simply your statement is disingenous at best - if God created Man then he wouldn've known (because God knows everything) that some Men will be gay OR otherwise he wouldn't have created them in the first place. Think about it - you might live a happier life if you didn't condemn people in the name of God.

So those who would disagree with you are morons and those who agree with you are the smart people. I see!
Those who "are okay" with homosexuality and bisexuality tend to be irreverant and are among the most arrogant in God's eyes as they consider their opinion and so-called "openmindedness" to be far above the revealed will of God.
