I have received a text message stating that it has been postponed with a possible rescheduled date around the very end of December or maybe even January.
Who couldn't make it this time then?

If it's true there should be a few hotel rooms going cheap.
It's December 29th and 30th. Official holiday has been announced accordingly. Three days off (Monday through Wednesday) for both the GCC summit and the new Hijri year.

fred_says - No, just the public sector. Private sector gets only one day (January the 1st). So, public sector gets 2 days for GCC summit plus 1 day for the new Hijri year, while private sector gets nothing for GCC summit and only 1 day for the new Hijri year.

Yes, and we were thrown out of the Grand Hyatt Muscat and had to stay at some dump till the conference was over!
